The new technology platform making this possible is Carbon Capture and Utilization (CCU).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What sounds like a fairy tale from the far future, is already reality: Dozens of so-called power-to-gas plants in Germany use solar and wind power to produce artificial natural gas from CO<sub>2<\/sub>, Iceland uses CO<sub>2<\/sub> for the production of fuel methanol, and companies from Germany, the USA and South Korea make plastics such as PPC, PEC and polyurethane based on CO<sub>2<\/sub>.
