{"id":21074,"date":"2014-06-23T03:03:24","date_gmt":"2014-06-23T01:03:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/?p=21074"},"modified":"2014-06-22T09:24:16","modified_gmt":"2014-06-22T07:24:16","slug":"gol-airlines-using-amyris-fuel-flights-world-cup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/gol-airlines-using-amyris-fuel-flights-world-cup\/","title":{"rendered":"Gol Airlines using Amyris fuel on its flights during World Cup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brazil&#8217;s Gol airlines will use a 4-percent biofuel mixture to power 200 flights during the 2014 World Cup being hosted by that country.<\/p>\n<p>With these flights, GOL expects a reduction of about 218 tons of carbon dioxide (CO<sub>2<\/sub>) through the use of more than 69 tonnes of biofuels used from 12 June to 14 July, when the world cup ends.<\/p>\n<p>The biokerosene flight shows &#8220;that it is possible to reduce emissions voluntarily though technological innovation,&#8221; Brazilian Environment Minister Izabella Teixeira said during Gol&#8217;s presentation of the initiative. &#8220;The issue of climate is particularly important,&#8221; Teixeira said, touting Brazil&#8217;s efforts to reduce emissions of CO<sub>2<\/sub> and other greenhouse gases.<\/p>\n<p>Gol used biofuel last October for a flight from Sao Paulo to Brasilia, a first for Brazil&#8217;s aviation industry.
