Pressing environmental issues, such as white pollution and hazy smog, have reinforced the determination of the Chinese government and its citizens to fight pollution and to push for low-carbon and sustainable development. The desire on industrial sustainability has spurred actions from not only multinational chemical companies but also local players who also see the broad prospects and opportunities to grow. Riding on the parent group’s abundant resources and strength in circular economy of coal coking and salt chemicals, JinHui ZhaoLong has been committed to pursuing low-carbon development. The company is making continuous progress in clean technology applications such as its biodegradation project in China to persistent efforts of its local technology innovation practices, and its grasp on the strategic development concepts and key trends in target markets.

“As a pioneering enterprise devoted to biodegradation technology in China, JinHui ZhaoLong benefits from a thorough insight into local market trends, as well as government support amidst energy economic transition in Shanxi Province,” said Ms Janice Li , vice president of JinHui Group, “JinHui ZhaoLong’s 20,000 tons of PBAT line has been put in production which is the largest PBAT producer in Asia by far. This enables us rich experiences to help with the commercialization of the best local scientific achievements. By participating at Chinaplas, we aim to realize a sustainable plastic industry, and a beautiful China.”

At Chinaplas 2014, Jinhui Zhaolong highlighted Ecoworld® PBAT, the biodegradable and compostable material for key industries and target customers.

PBAT, completely biodegradable with great potentials, is a copolymer made of 1, 4-butanediol, adipic acid and terephthalic acid. This important biodegradable material of high performance film features 120% tear resistance and 130% impact strength compared to polyethylene (PE). With good film forming, biodegradable and compostable properties, PBAT is widely used in all kinds of plastic products, such as agricultural mulch film, garbage bags, cling wrap, compostable bags, wrapping film and disposable plastic products (lunch boxes, dishes, cups, etc.).

Ecoworld® PBAT can be decomposed into carbon dioxide and water in 180 days by microorganisms under compostable conditions (that allow both the biodegradation by microorganism and the process of absorbing organic substances and biodegradable plastics). The entire process not only avoids toxic gas, but also can generate organic fertilizer. JinHui ZhaoLong’s PBAT production uses one-step polymerization technology. Through this advanced technology, Ecoworld® PBAT also makes gains in film-forming property and intensity, aging resistance, safety and greenness. It has passed the test at China National Centre for Quality Supervision & Test of Plastics Products (NTSQP) and met the U.S. FDA Food Contact Substance (FCS) requirements. It also obtained certificates of the bio-plastics standards of European Union (EU) EN13432 and U.S. ASTM6400D. The shelf life of Ecoworld® PBAT can be extended to twelve months with sealed package, even after being processed to film products.

“Low-carbon, environment-friendliness and sustainability has become the theme of the 21st century, JinHui Group sees green innovations as an important motive in the growth and success of the company,” Janice said, “JinHui ZhaoLong is optimistic at the prospects of PBAT in the plastics industry in China and globally, given the growing demand on safer and greener packaging for foods and consumer products as well as the increasing desire on environment-friendly agricultural plastics. Working hand-in-hand with our customers, we strive for innovative products and applications with our advanced technologies.”

Besides Ecoworld® PBAT, JinHui ZhaoLong is working closely with its strategic partners to explore opportunities of other biodegradable and bio-based materials, such as new high-barrier biodegradable plastics and polyalcohol from bio-based glycerol.

JinHui Group has a strong advantage in natural resources, and also has market and technology advantages from its long term development. JinHui Group aims to be one of the top energy generating companies in China with complete upstream and downstream routes in the industry chain.

In recent years, the group has used its advantages in raw materials and technology to develop products with excellent environmental specifications. “We shall stay on, and closely follow this transition road map, and we shall develop more new products in the areas of biodegradable plastics as well as future environmental friendly new materials,” Janice says. JinHui ZhaoLong High Technology Co., Ltd. is committed to contributing to a sustainable development of our environment.

About JinHui Group and JinHui ZhaoLong High Technology Co., Ltd
Shanxi JinHui Energy Group Ltd (“JinHui Group”), built on the circular economy of the coal coking industry and salt chemicals, is a large scale private owned enterprise engaged in international trading, logistics, environmental protection and real estate development, etc. The Group has 49 subsidiaries and over 7,500 workers, and it’s headquarter is located in the Shanxi Provincial capital Taiyuan City.

Low-carbon, environment-friendliness and sustainability have become the theme of the 21st century.
