The product has been available on the market since January 2014. LDPE is mainly used in plastic packaging and films.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBraskem constantly monitors the market and seeks new solutions for its clients. We believe low-density green polyethylene will meet the growing demand for materials made from renewable resources by enabling other applications in addition to the ones already available. With this production capacity, we will be ready to meet a portion of the global demand for this resin,\u201d said Luciano Guidolin, Vice-President of the Polyolefins and Renewables unit.<\/p>\n<p>Braskem has been producing high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) made from renewable feedstock on an industrial scale since September 2010.<\/p>\n<p>Biobased polyethylene in all its variations has properties identical to those of traditional polyethylene, however, since it is derived from renewable materials, it has decisive advantages, such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions by sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At the beginning of this year Braskem, one of the world\u2019s leading bioplastic producers, announced the expansion of its resin portofolio with plans to produce 30 kilo tonnes of biobased low-density polyethylene (LDPE) annually.
