The EPA first published a preliminary version of the notice on Nov. 15, the same day the agency <a href=\"http:\/\/biomassmagazine.com\/articles\/9679\/epa-proposes-2014-renewable-fuels-standards\" target=\"_blank\">released the proposed rule for the 2014 RFS<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the notice, the EPA notes it has already received a number of petitions for a waiver of the 2014 RFS. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ethanolproducer.com\/articles\/10153\/big-oil-already-pushing-for-partial-waiver-of-2014-rfs-volumes\" target=\"_blank\">The American Petroleum Institute and American Fuel &amp; Petrochemical Manufacturers submitted a joint petition on Aug. 13<\/a>, approximately three months before the EPA announced the proposed volumes for 2014. Several refining companies have also filed similar individual petitions.<\/p>\n<p>Within the notice published in the Federal Register, the EPA invites public comments on all issues relevant to the petitions for a waiver that have been submitted.
