One of the key challenges is the energy-efficient recovery and reuse of solvents – a critical factor in successfully scaling innovative cellulose fiber production processes from laboratory concepts to commercial applications.

This is particularly relevant for processes using ionic liquids. While their potential in cellulose processing is well recognized, industrial implementation raises important questions: How can high solvent recovery rates be achieved efficiently? What technical challenges arise during scale-up? And what do industrial experience and market developments reveal about their commercial potential?

These questions will be at the center of the next nova-Talk, held online on December 10, 2026.
GKT expert Philipp Mair-Zelenka will focus on the recovery of ionic liquids, addressing key technical considerations and challenges associated with industrial scale-up. Together with Markus Damm (proionic) and Asta Partanen (nova-Institute), he will explore the current and future role of cellulose fibers in textiles, solvent supply and recovery, industrial implementation, and market developments.

The nova-Talk is designed as an interactive discussion rather than a series of presentations. Participants are invited to ask questions and share their perspectives throughout the moderated session.

The event is particularly relevant for professionals in the textile, man-made fiber, chemical, and process engineering industries, as well as specialists in solvents, separation technologies, and industrial scale-up.

Join the discussion and register for free!

This nova-Talk episode is sponsored by GKT, with Textile Technology supporting as media partner.

Hosted by nova-Institute

Asta Partanen, nova-Institute © nova-Institute

nova-Institute is an independent research and science-based consultancy focused on sustainability and renewable carbon cycles.
