The binder technology, visiBINDER, is a mycelium-based binder designed for paving and infrastructure applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strong support for a new generation of construction materials<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding round was completed with two strong leads from EIFO and UV, both backing Visibuilt\u2019s ambition to replace carbon-intensive binders with biobased alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cClosing this seed round is an important milestone for Visibuilt. It enables us to mature our technical platform, validate our solution at a larger scale, and take the next steps towards the market,\u201d says <strong>Line Kloster Pedersen, CEO and Founder of Visibuilt<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cConcrete and asphalt production are among the largest sources of CO\u2082 emissions globally. If we are to truly reduce emissions, it requires new solutions in heavy industries. Visibuilt has an approach that could become an important piece of that transition,\u201d <strong>says Sara Sande, Managing Director, Partner and Head of Direct Thematic Venture at EIFO.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dAt Unconventional Ventures, we look for companies where the impact case and the commercial case are structurally identical. Visibuilt is that company. Every tonne of visiBINDER placed in a paving application displaces a tonne of fossil binder, generates royalty revenue, and reduces the embedded carbon of the infrastructure it goes into. Line has built active industrial testing relationships with Denmark\u2019s leading concrete paver manufacturer and Copenhagen Municipality within two years of founding \u2013 without a finished production setup and without a fully derisked product. That is an unusual execution signal for a hard-tech founder at this stage, and it is why we co-led. \u201d says <strong>Thea Messel, General Partner, Unconventional Ventures.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Developing an alternative to bitumen and cement<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Construction and infrastructure rely heavily on binders such as bitumen and cement, both associated with significant carbon emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Visibuilt is developing visiBINDER, a biobased binder produced from mycelium \u2014 the root structure of fungi.
