The financing was led by HS Hyosung Advanced Materials with participation from Capricorn Partners. This funding builds on the company\u2019s previous&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trilliumchemicals.com\/media\/2022\/12\/12\/trillium-announces-close-of-series-a-financing-raising-10-6-million\/\">$10.6 million Series A financing round<\/a>&nbsp;and non-dilutive&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trilliumchemicals.com\/media\/2022\/12\/12\/trillium-awarded-doe-funding-for-biobased-acrylonitrile-demonstration-plant\/\">$2.5 million award<\/a>&nbsp;from the U.S. Department of Energy.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a successful multi-year pilot program validating its glycerol-to-acrylonitrile technology, Trillium&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.trilliumchemicals.com\/media\/2024\/06\/04\/trillium-renewable-chemicals-selects-ineos-green-lake-for-worlds-first-demonstration-plant-for-sustainable-acrylonitrile-production\/\">selected INEOS Nitriles\u2019 Green Lake facility<\/a>&nbsp;to host the world\u2019s first demonstration plant (deemed \u201cProject Falcon\u201d) for the manufacture of 100% bio-based acrylonitrile. Construction of Project Falcon is complete, marking the first industrial-scale deployment of Trillium\u2019s technology. Commissioning is scheduled for second quarter 2026 with product shipments to follow later this year. The capital raised funds 1) design and construction of Falcon (completed), 2) Falcon operation, 3) continued pilot-scale innovation, and 4) advanced stage engineering design of the first commercial plant.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cCompletion of Falcon demonstrates that Trillium\u2019s technology is ready for industrial validation,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Young-Joon Lee, Senior Vice President of HS Hyosung Advanced Materials<\/strong>, Trillium\u2019s lead Series B investor.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\u201cAccessing sustainable acrylonitrile is an important milestone for the industry, and the Project Falcon will prove that it can be scaled to produce a viable, drop-in sustainable product.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wouter Van de Putte from Capricorn Partners<\/strong>&nbsp;added: \u201cThe completion of Falcon substantially advances Trillium toward commercial manufacturing. The Company has demonstrated both technical performance and the ability to execute at industrial scale.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur pilot program validated the chemistry. Falcon validates scale and manufacturability,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Corey Tyree, CEO of Trillium Renewable Chemicals.<\/strong>&nbsp;\u201cWe are now moving from technical proof to commercial proof. This funding allows us to demonstrate that bio-based acrylonitrile will meet industrial performance standards at meaningful production volumes.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Following Falcon\u2019s commissioning, Trillium will advance engineering and development of its first commercial-scale manufacturing plant. Trillium\u2019s process enables a drop-in, plant-based alternative without changes to downstream supply chains. Acrylonitrile is used to make a diverse range of consumer and industrial goods including carbon fiber, plastic, textiles, flocculant, synthetic rubber, and other valuable materials.
