According to the organization, the new name better reflects its expanded focus across the full carbon management value chain. Originally centered on zero-emissions fossil fuel power plants, the group\u2019s scope now includes CO2 capture, transport, storage, utilization and carbon dioxide removal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thus, the rebrand aligns more closely with European Commission terminology and aims to strengthen engagement with a broader range of stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shift Comes at Key Moment for EU Climate Policy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The transition takes place at a critical time for Europe\u2019s climate strategy. Upcoming developments, including the revision of the EU Emissions Trading System<\/a> (EU ETS) and the creation of a CO2 market and infrastructure framework, are expected to play a major role in shaping deployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A clearer identity may allow the organization to contribute more effectively to these discussions, while raising awareness of industrial carbon management as a key pillar of climate neutrality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOver the past two decades, our work has expanded across the full carbon management value chain,\u201d said Eve Tamme, Chair of Carbon Management Europe. \u201cThe name reflects this reality and strengthens our ability to support deployment at scale.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n The organization noted that the name change will not affect its mission, governance or core activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It will continue to provide science-based advice to EU institutions and national governments on the deployment of carbon management technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOur name is changing but our mission remains the same,\u201d said Eadbhard Pernot, Secretary General of the organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
