Biobased polymers &#8211; materials derived from renewable biological resources rather than finite fossil fuels &#8211; stand at the forefront of this transformation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arkema\u2019s new Rilsan\u00ae Clear transparent polyamide unit in Singapore epitomises the company\u2019s strategic shift toward specialty biobased polymers at industrial scale. Located on Jurong Island, the new facility is now fully operational and triples the Group\u2019s global production capacity for Rilsan\u00ae Clear, consolidating Arkema\u2019s position as a leader in transparent, highperformance polyamides. By investing around $20 million in this platform, Arkema is reinforcing its roadmap on specialty materials, aligning growth with the use of advanced polymer chemistries that offer lightweighting, durability, and design freedom in applications such as optics, consumer electronics, and mobility components. This expansion underlines how biobased and advanced polymers are becoming increasingly important to regional manufacturing ecosystems in Asia, supporting both local demand and global value chains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In industrial coatings, Cortec\u00ae has taken a notable step by releasing EcoLine\u00ae 3860, a waterbased acrylic anticorrosion coating incorporating renewably sourced resins and 27% USDAcertified biobased content. Designed for metal protection, EcoLine\u00ae 3860 combines low levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) &#8211; well within Green Seal and EPA guidelines &#8211; with the flexibility, adhesion, and UV resistance expected from modern acrylic systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This first biobased acrylic anticorrosion paint in Cortec\u2019s portfolio is presented as a milestone that \u201csets the stage\u201d for a new generation of sustainable corrosion inhibiting coatings, making it easier for specifiers and asset owners to adopt renewable content without compromising operational reliability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Biobased adhesives, often an invisible but critical enabler of lightweight design, have gained another product. BioBond\u2019s newly launched BioAdhere\u2122 SUP250 is a biobased industrial adhesive tailored for demanding mobility and defence applications, including emerging platforms such as drones. As a USDA BioPreferred certified product made in the USA, BioAdhere\u2122 SUP250 offers a lighterweight, lasting bonding solution that is practically free of VOCs and odours, contains no added microplastics, and is completely PFASfree. Biobond has tried to combine stringent health and safety credentials with the mechanical robustness needed in harsh environments, to position<br>biobased adhesives as a strategic alternative to conventional glues in safetycritical markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Braskem is showcasing how its biobased polymer technology is advancing in the exacting healthcare and hygiene space through a new I\u2019m green\u2122 biobased lowdensity polyethylene (LDPE) grade. The material is produced from scalable, recyclable renewable feedstock and offers high stiffness, and temperature resistance in a dropin solution with a with a significantly reduced cradletogate carbon footprint.
