DevvStream Corp<\/a>, a leader in carbon management and environmental-asset monetization, announced a strategic collaboration with Southern Energy Renewables (SER)<\/a> and Frontline BioEnergy. The partnership aims to support the development of Southern\u2019s biomass-to-fuels and chemicals platform in Louisiana, USA, focusing on de-risking and validating the technology.<\/p>\n\n\n

The collaboration involves expanding Frontline\u2019s existing clean-syngas process demonstration unit at its Nevada, Iowa facility. Two new pilot-scale units; a syngas-to-methanol process demonstration unit and a methanol-to-hydrocarbons process demonstration unit, will be added. These units are designed to generate operational data for Southern to refine its engineering and project planning, with a focus on producing bio-methanol and converting it into SAF<\/a> and other hydrocarbons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the terms, Southern may invest up to $2.05 million to fund the design, construction, and commissioning of the units. Most of the engineering and construction work will be handled by Frontline, which will retain ownership of the equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Southern is expected to be confirmed as the exclusive gasification partner for five years. DevvStream will be managing the environmental assets and carbon credits generated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collaboration also supports a broader strategic plan involving a potential merger among DevvStream, Southern, and XCF Global<\/a>. If successful, the pilot program could validate Southern\u2019s biomass-to-methanol pathways, enhance XCF\u2019s SAF<\/a> production capabilities, and accelerate commercialization efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

DevvStream CEO Sunny Trinh highlighted the project\u2019s potential to turn innovation into scalable solutions. Southern\u2019s CEO Jay Patel emphasized the practical approach to de-risking and validating feedstocks.
