{"id":170658,"date":"2025-11-21T07:37:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T06:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/?p=170658"},"modified":"2025-11-19T17:45:34","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T16:45:34","slug":"dp-cleantech-wins-contract-for-revolutionary-50mwe-biomass-cogeneration-project-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/dp-cleantech-wins-contract-for-revolutionary-50mwe-biomass-cogeneration-project-in-spain\/","title":{"rendered":"DP CleanTech wins contract for revolutionary 50MWe biomass cogeneration project in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p><strong>DP CleanTech\u00a0has been awarded a major contract to design, engineer and deliver a 50MWe biomass boiler and flue gas cleaning system for the\u00a0La Robla Green\u00a0Project in Castilla y Le\u00f3n, Spain \u2014 a landmark initiative set to reshape Europe\u2019s renewable fuels landscape.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dpcleantech.com\/images\/20251104.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"width:721px;height:auto\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Spearheaded by\u00a0<strong>Reolum<\/strong>, the \u20ac850 million project will combine a 50MWe biomass power plant (Roblum), a 200MW green hydrogen electrolysis facility, and a green e-methanol plant (La Robla Nueva Energia) capable of producing more than 140,000 tonnes of e-methanol fuel annually. The integrated facility will demonstrate how sustainable biomass and carbon capture can create a fully circular, carbon-negative energy ecosystem &#8211; a pioneering model for the global renewable fuel production industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boiler combustion gases from the biomass plant will be sent to a dedicated carbon capture plant where biogenic CO<sub>2<\/sub> will be extracted.\u00a0 The electrolysis facility uses renewable power to produce green hydrogen, which will then be combined with the captured biogenic CO\u2082 to create green e-methanol. The liquid fuel will be used in the hard-to-bate transport sectors as both a direct low-carbon alternative for maritime transport and a feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strategically located in Spain\u2019s Castilla y Le\u00f3n region, the facility will draw on abundant locally sourced agricultural biomass (straw) as a sustainable feedstock supply.&nbsp; The project will drive local employment and economic growth, and supports EU renewable energy and climate goals. The location logistics infrastructure will enable the efficient export of green e-methanol to global markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Remarking on the win,\u00a0<strong>DP CleanTech CEO Simon Parker<\/strong>\u00a0said: \u201cThe La Robla Green Project represents a huge step change in sustainability &#8211; a complete virtuous circle for short-cycle biomass that turns agricultural biomass into clean energy and sustainable fuels.
