This phenol is produced sustainably, using raw materials sourced from biomass waste such as used cooking oils. As a leader in phenol production, Moeve supplies this chemical to various industries, including automotive, textiles, electronics, and household goods. Phenol is a key ingredient in everyday items like medicines, electronics, and even some food preservatives. Now, with this new initiative, Moeve aims to introduce its sustainable phenol to China, the world\u2019s largest consumer market for chemicals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company\u2019s NextPhenol BC is designed to deliver the same high performance as traditional fossil-based phenol but with a significantly lower carbon footprint. Thanks to a verified life cycle assessment, Moeve reports that NextPhenol BC achieves a reduction of over 100% in cradle-to-gate emissions, thanks to its use of bio and circular raw materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since pioneering sustainable phenol production in Europe in 2019, Moeve has steadily expanded its green product line. The company emphasizes decarbonization through renewable energy use and circular material inputs. Its efforts have positioned Moeve as a pioneer in the global shift toward sustainable chemistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria Fernanda Pati\u00f1o, who oversees Moeve\u2019s Shanghai plant, highlighted the significance of this milestone: \u201cNextPhenol exemplifies how chemistry can help address climate change. In addition to NextPhenol BC, Moeve develops other low-carbon phenols made from biomaterials<\/a> and recycled waste.
