By 31 March EU Commission launched a public consultation on the upcoming EU Bioeconomy strategy. It invites all interested stakeholders to express their opinions and expectations towards the Bioeconomy strategy via the\u00a0Have Your Say<\/a>\u00a0portal. The public consultation is open until 23 June 2026 and marks a significant step forward in harnessing the opportunities of the bioeconomy to support European businesses and drive progress towards the EU\u2019s environmental, climate and competitiveness objectives.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

By this initiative, the Commission strives to ensure that perspectives of stakeholders, especially young people, SMEs (including start-ups), non-governmental organisations, trade unions, and primary producers are heard and considered when the Bioeconomy Strategy is elaborated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Bioeconomy Strategy is due for adoption by the end of 2025 and aims to advance innovation and maintain the EU’s leadership in the bioeconomy. It will propose actions to unlock the potential of bioeconomy innovations, so that they can reach the market, generating green jobs and growth. Further, it will set the framework conditions to enable bioeconomy start-ups, entrepreneurs and new business models to thrive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preparation for the new strategy will allow it to align with key EU initiatives, such as the Competitiveness Compass<\/a> and the Clean Industrial Deal<\/a>, the upcoming Life Science Strategy, the Ocean Pact and the Biotech Act, among others. It will also consider global competitiveness aspects. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
