That effort is supported by the Pelican DAC Hub, a collaboration between Origen,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shell.com\/\">Shell<\/a>, and Mitsubishi in southern Louisiana that aims for an initial capacity of 50,000 tons of CO2 captured per year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year, Origen and its partners raised $13 million in Series A funding to accelerate development and reduce costs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis funding gives us the runway we need to streamline our process and reduce costs to deliver the carbon reductions that our planet needs,\u201d said Ben Riddle-Turner, CEO of Origen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the kiln now operational, Origen is preparing to test its proprietary air contactor at EERC in the coming months.
