The BMW Group reached series maturity of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.press.bmwgroup.com\/global\/article\/search\/natural%20fiber\">#natural fiber<\/a>composites following several years of development and in-depth research. The composites from renewable raw materials even meet the stringent demands of roof structures in total vehicle homologation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The flax-based lightweight components have been developed in collaboration with Bcomp, a Swiss clean-tech company, for several years now. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcomp.com\/news\/worlds-first-bcomp-and-bmw-group-bring-natural-fibre-to-production-road-cars\/\">The partnership with Bcomp<\/a> supports the BMW Group\u2019s goal of further reducing CO\u2082e emissions in future vehicle models. The use of natural fibers with a reduced CO\u2082e footprint in composite materials has become increasingly important. Since then, the components have also been successfully used in the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.press.bmwgroup.com\/global\/article\/search\/BMW\">#BMW<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;M4## DTM and&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.press.bmwgroup.com\/global\/article\/search\/M4%20GT4\">#M4 GT4<\/a><\/strong>, replacing carbon fiber plastic (CFRP) parts.
