The treatment is based on derivatized and activated fatty acids or paraffins including optionally an aluminium salt as catalyst. The derivatisation is achieved through a N-methylol group, which chemically reacts with wood fibers and therefore remains durable in the material.

Challenge
The producers of chip boards, particle boards and wood plastic composites (WPC) do have problems with the durability of their products. Their warranties might not be fulfilled. The main reason is the water-uptake and thus the swelling, dwindling and shrinking of the boards. Another reason can be the attack of wood degrading fungy.

… Full text: www.technologieallianz.de/angebote.php?sort=sag&id=1125&lang=en

Tags: dimensionally stable, impregnation, surface coatings, open-pored structure, low ecological toxicity, building sector, packaging industry

Novel compounds have been identified for the treatment of particle boards, OSB and wood-plastic-composites, increasing the hydrophobicity and thus the durability and quality, reducing the

[5572

1061
post-16535","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-bio-based","supplier-universitaet-goettingen
["GET
