Such a certification is required by\u00a0Article\u00a06 of Regulation (EU) 2022\/1616 on recycled plastic materials and articles\u00a0intended for food contact.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guidance represents a PET value chain initiative to provide\u00a0transparency and clarity, and a practical tool to ensure that recycled\u00a0plastics used in food contact applications are both safe and traceable.\u00a0It provides a detailed interpretation of legal requirements under Article 6\u00a0of Regulation (EU) 2022\/1616, translating them into actionable criteria\u00a0for the collection, sorting, and final pre-processing of operators.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis guidance is the result of extensive collaboration among experts in\u00a0food contact regulation, waste management, recycling, conversion,\u00a0and packaging.
