Plastyx<\/a> is well underway to meet its goal to source 200,000 tons of plastic waste by the end of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The joint venture between US-based chemical recycler Agilyx and Circular Resources, a Luxemburg-based company founded by former Plastic Energy CEO Carlos Monreal<\/a>, was established in March this year.<\/p>\n\n\n

Plastyx has so far executed memorandums of understanding for 150,000 tons of plastic waste or 75% of its goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this rate, Plastyx is likely to double its target, the company said in a statement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The joint venture is designed to offer the European chemical recycling industry reliable, high-quality feedstock for food-grade and other high-performance packaging applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agilyx and ExxonMobil formed Cyclyx International, a plastic waste feedstock management company, in 2021. LyondellBasell has also joined<\/a> the joint venture as a founding member. Cyclyx is building a circularity centre to in Houston, Texas, with capacity to produce around 136,000 tonnes of plastic feedstock for chemical and mechanical recycling, with ExxonMobil and LyondellBasell holding offtake rights. That first facility is expected to start operations in mid-2025, with plans for a second centre<\/a> in the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
