This is being done against the backdrop of the several EU regulations that are currently being discussed and have already been passed regarding the sustainability of companies and products, including the End-of-Life Vehicles Directive.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">With AI to highest purity levels<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:13px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/remondis-aktuell.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/REM_24.01.23_0172.jpg\" alt=\"\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.4991539763113366;width:727px;height:auto\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">In Bochum, RE Plano uses artificial intelligence for sorting \u00a9 Remondis<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The use of recyclates from the lightweight packaging fraction of household waste sorting for use in technical products presents many challenges. Both companies have made significant developments and investments in this area in recent years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Dirk Breitbach, managing director of TechnoCompound<\/strong>, comments: \u201cBuilding on our 35 years of experience in the use of recyclates in plastic compounds, the cooperation with RE Plano is an important step in the up-cycling of PCR from the lightweight packaging fraction for technical applications, such as vehicle interiors. This application has very high requirements in terms of emissions and odours, as well as the mechanical properties of our products.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>At its\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.remondis-aktuell.de\/recycling\/new-standards-in-the-sorting-of-plastic-packaging\/\" target=\"_blank\">sorting plant in Bochum<\/a>, Germany, RE Plano uses an AI-supported sorting system that recognises individual packaging and can be freely programmed in terms of sorting criteria. This enables to achieve the highest purity levels in the fractions, which are suitable for later use in, for example, cosmetics packaging and vehicle interiors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>Managing director Ralf Mandelatz<\/strong> says: \u201cThis will enable us to meet the volume requirements of the automotive market, and we are delighted to have TechnoCompound, an experienced market leader in technical applications, on our side.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.remondis-aktuell.de\/recycling\/post-consumer-recyclates-for-automotive-applications\/#\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/en.remondis-aktuell.de\/recycling\/post-consumer-recyclates-for-automotive-applications\/#\"><\/a><strong>Dr Nabila Rabanizada, head of research &amp; development at REMONDIS Recycling<\/strong>, adds: \u201cThe suitability of our recyclates, including for high-quality, contact-sensitive applications, is also ensured by the further multi-stage processing of the sorting fractions at our plant in L\u00fcnen. This enables us to meet the specifications for the individual components.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Use in automotive series applications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Through compounding, additivation and further material processing, TechnoCompound uses these raw materials to produce plastic grades that pass the emission chamber tests, including odour and emissions, specified by vehicle manufacturers (OEMs). TechnoCompound\u2019s PCR-based plastics are already being used in a number of automotive applications.
