Additionally, we have released several supplementary documents supporting our joint report with BIC. Inside this issue, you will also find highlights from the CO\u2082-based Fuels and Chemicals Conference in Cologne and an RCI interview of our member Fibenol (EE). The report outlines a strategic roadmap for transforming Europe\u2019s chemical industry by transitioning from fossil-based to renewable carbon sources. It highlights the industry\u2019s current crisis which is driven by global competition, high energy costs, and regulatory pressure, and stresses the urgency of reducing dependence on fossil feedstocks. The report argues that the transition to renewable carbon is not just about environmental sustainability; it is about securing Europe\u2019s industrial future and maintaining its global competitiveness in a rapidly changing world. By pioneering renewable carbon technologies, the EU can unlock economic benefits and unleash its innovation potential while advancing climate neutrality ambitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report outlines ten comprehensive policy proposals including mandatory renewable carbon targets, adaptation of emissions trading systems, and financial support mechanisms. These proposals aim to create market demand, drive innovation and build industrial resilience. We believe these proposals can actively help to shape policy in a way that enables sustainability, competitiveness and resilience through defossilisation \u2013 and helps to tackle the implementation of T\u00dcV Austria\u2019s \u201cOK renewable\u201d certification scheme in the March newsletter, we wanted to highlight again that the label is now officially available on the considerations for end-of-life scenarios, and a non-technical summary tailored for policy makers.The final publication is a three-part study, with an exhaustive, rather technical document on frameworks and guidance (<a href=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/publications\/product\/evaluating-lca-approaches-and-methodologies-for-renewable-carbon-sources-report-1-of-3-renewable-carbon-in-lca-guidelines-march-2025-pdf\/\">Report 1<\/a>), a focused deep-dive into the topic of renewable carbon in recycling situations (<a href=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/publications\/product\/evaluating-lca-approaches-and-methodologies-for-renewable-carbon-sources-report-2-of-3-renewable-carbon-in-recycling-situations-march-2025-pdf\/\">Report 2<\/a>) and a non-technical summary for everyone who is not an LCA expert (<a href=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/publications\/product\/evaluating-lca-approaches-and-methodologies-for-renewable-carbon-sources-report-3-of-3-non-technical-summary-march-2025-pdf\/\">Report 3<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help share and explain the findings of this study, we invite you to a 90-minute webinar presenting its key outcomes. Today, more than 1.5 million tonnes of&nbsp;CO\u2082-based products are already being produced annually \u2013 a sign that commercialisation is no longer a distant goal. The momentum is real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 70 companies and 110 EU-funded projects are already actively developing CO<sub>2<\/sub>capture, conversion and integration solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However,&nbsp;scaling CCU depends on the right political framework, reliable CO\u2082 supply, renewable&nbsp;energy&nbsp;and&nbsp;green&nbsp;hydrogen&nbsp;as&nbsp;well&nbsp;as&nbsp;cross-sector&nbsp;collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;Best CO\u2082 Utilisation 2025&#8221; Innovation Award won UP Catalyst (EE) for its battery-grade graphite from CO<sub>2<\/sub>. Second place took Far Eastern New Century (FENC) for its TopGreen&nbsp;CO\u2082-Based&nbsp;NIPU.
