{"id":16215,"date":"2013-01-03T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2013-01-02T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bio-based.eu\/news\/index.php?startid=20130103-05n"},"modified":"2013-01-03T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2013-01-02T22:00:00","slug":"ribbon-cutting-for-biofuels-biochemicals-pilot-plant-set-for-jan-25-in-st-gabriel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/ribbon-cutting-for-biofuels-biochemicals-pilot-plant-set-for-jan-25-in-st-gabriel\/","title":{"rendered":"Ribbon-cutting for biofuels, biochemicals pilot plant set for Jan. 25 in St. Gabriel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>The LSU AgCenter Audubon Sugar Institute will hold a ribbon cutting at 10 a.m. on Jan. 25 to mark the completion of a pilot plant dedicated to producing biofuels and biochemicals from agricultural crops and byproducts.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The centerpiece of the AgCenter\u2019s Sustainable Bioproducts Initiative, the pilot plant focuses on processing sweet sorghum, energy cane and other grassy feedstocks into convertible sugars, fiber and bioproducts for further refining into butanol, gasoline, isoprene and biochemicals, said project director Vadim Kochergin.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The facility can be scaled up to any capacity,\u201d Kochergin said. &#8220;The focus is on primary processing of sweet sorghum, energy cane and other grassy feedstocks.
