{"id":15972,"date":"2012-07-17T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-07-16T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bio-based.eu\/news\/index.php?startid=20120717-03n"},"modified":"2012-07-17T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2012-07-16T22:00:00","slug":"british-plastics-federation-clarifies-green-plastics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/british-plastics-federation-clarifies-green-plastics\/","title":{"rendered":"British Plastics Federation clarifies green plastics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>The BPF has today published a Guidance Document to help businesses and consumers correctly use and interpret the terms &#8216;bio-based&#8217;, &#8216;biodegradable&#8217;, &#8216;compostable&#8217;, &#8216;oxo-biodegredation&#8217;, and other environmental claims on plastic products.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This guidance has been developed following a period of consultation with the BPF&#8217;s Bio-based &#038; Degradable Plastics Group, alongside other interested stakeholders, and aims to provide clear, user-friendly advice for companies in the plastics sector who are or are considering making environmental claims about their products.<\/p>\n<p>This guidance is not intended to supersede existing UK\/EU legislation, madatory advertising codes and\/or government guidance which will still be the key sources for ensuring that advertising and marketing are fully compliant in respect of environmental claims.
