To achieve this goal, we need more than just good intentions: we need clear political decisions that set the necessary framework conditions, build cross-border infrastructure and attract the necessary investments. Only if we remove the hurdles together and boldly take the next steps will we lay the foundation for an affordable and clean energy future,&#8221; explained&nbsp;<strong>Katherina Reiche, Chair of the National Hydrogen Council of the German Federal Government<\/strong>. &#8220;Together, we are committed to ensuring that hydrogen technologies become a marketable success not only in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, but throughout Europe.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Priorities for a sustainable hydrogen market:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\" start=\"1\">\n<li>Improving and simplifying the legal framework for clean hydrogen and its derivatives We are creating a clear, simplified and harmonised legal framework for clean hydrogen that secures investments and strengthens the internal market. This legal framework offers flexibility and facilitates access to markets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prioritize the development of a pan-European hydrogen infrastructure We are developing an efficient, cross-border infrastructure for the production, storage and transport of hydrogen. This infrastructure will strengthen European competitiveness and connect regions with high hydrogen potential with industrial sites that depend on clean hydrogen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing tailor-made financial support schemes taking into account geographical and sectoral needs We adapt European support mechanisms to geographical and sectoral needs to cover all types of clean hydrogen production and strengthen the European market.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating stable markets for hydrogen products We will ensure reliable demand for hydrogen products such as green steel and fertilizers and create stable value chains. Public procurement strategies will support the market ramp-up of hydrogen technologies and drive industrial application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leveraging regional strengths to create global champions in innovation and technology We are strengthening hydrogen research and development in Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands and building on these regional strengths to position ourselves as a global technology leader in hydrogen.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Appeal to political decision-makers<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Hydrogen Councils from Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands are calling on political decision-makers to take decisive action to quickly and sustainably realize the European hydrogen market. The council consists of 26 high-ranking experts from business, science and civil society who are not part of the public administration. The members of the Hydrogen Council have expertise in the areas of production, research and innovation, decarbonization of industry, transport and buildings\/heat, infrastructure, international partnerships as well as climate and sustainability.
