Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., kicked off her “Jobs of the Future\u201d tour on August 6 at Ford Motor Co.\u2019s biobased lab in Dearborn, Mich. Stabenow chairs the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. During the tour, she is meeting with Michigan business leaders to discuss initiatives to boost the state\u2019s economy by helping innovative companies create new, high-tech jobs. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack joined in the event.<\/b><\/p>\n

Stabenow and Vilsack toured Ford\u2019s Innovation and Research Laboratory, where the auto manufacturer\u2019s biomaterials scientific team demonstrated how they produce a biobased foam using soy feedstock. The material is used in seat cushions in many Ford vehicles. Biobased products made by other manufacturers were also on display at the event.<\/p>\n
