The ground breaking&nbsp;ceremony was&nbsp;conducted by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To&nbsp;come up adjacent to the company\u2019s existing sugar factory in Kumbhi,&nbsp;Uttar Pradesh the unit will be operational in October 2026 and will&nbsp;source its raw material&nbsp;from the sugar mill. \u201cIt is expected to enhance&nbsp;resource efficiency and optimise supply chain management,\u201d the company&nbsp;said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0global technology providers include Sulzer from Switzerland, Alpine\u00a0Engineering GmbH from Austria and Jacobs Solutions Inc from the U.S.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis\u00a0plant is going to be India\u2019s first industrial scale biopolymer plant\u00a0&amp; also set a new global benchmark. It will be powered by 100%\u00a0renewable energy for its entire\u00a0production process, and also the first\u00a0plant location where sugarcane is transformed into PLA in a single,\u00a0integrated site, showcasing a truly closed-loop sustainability\u00a0model,\u201d\u00a0the company said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With an annual production capacity of 80,000&nbsp;tonnes per annum, the plant will produce 100% industrially compostable&nbsp;&amp; bio-based PLA- Poly Lactic acid which finds&nbsp;a wide range of&nbsp;applications in the manufacturing of bio degradable plastic replacement&nbsp;products such as straws, disposable cutlery, food trays, bottles, curd&nbsp;cups,&nbsp;and carry bags by small scale manufacturing units.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This PLA can also be anaerobically digested to produce biogas and fertilizer, tackling both waste and emissions.Vivek\u00a0Saraogi, Chairman &amp;\u00a0Managing Director, Balrampur Chini Mills\u00a0Limited said, \u201cThe establishment of India\u2019s first PLA biopolymer\u00a0manufacturing facility represents a monumental leap in our\u00a0nation\u2019s\u00a0industrial sustainability journey.\u201d<br><br>\u201cBy producing PLA at\u00a0industrial scale, we are not only reducing dependence on fossil fuels\u00a0but also setting new benchmarks for responsible manufacturing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Avantika&nbsp;Saraogi, Executive Director, Balrampur Chini Mills Limited said, \u201cThis&nbsp;plant will augment in positioning Uttar Pradesh as a leader in&nbsp;biopolymer production,&nbsp;boosting industrial growth and making India a key&nbsp;player in the bio-based economy, globally by tapping into the rich&nbsp;biomass reserves of the country and paving the&nbsp;way for its emergence as a&nbsp;key export hub.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Balrampur Chini Mills Limited (BCML) has announced to set up a Polylactic Acid (PLA) biopolymer manufacturing unit at Kumbhi,&nbsp;Uttar Pradesh&nbsp;with an investment&nbsp;of \u20b92,850 crore.
