Once isolated and purified, CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0can be processed downstream into several industrial chemicals such as carbonates, fertilizers, dry ice, and fuels. Gas separation technologies will thus play a key role in greenhouse gas reduction and the realization of a carbon-neutral society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The start-up OOYOO is addressing CO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0capture through a proprietary membrane separation technology which is both space-efficient and cost-effective. Arkema and OOYOO decided to join forces in the development of this membrane technology, and signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU). ARKEMA will bring in its pioneering technology on polymer synthesis and material design \u2013 primarily focused on Arkema\u2019s flagship\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arkema.com\/global\/en\/products\/product-finder\/product-range\/technicalpolymers\/pebax-product-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pebax<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0elastomers<\/a>\u00a0designed with tailored molecular channeling technology leading to high selectivity, chemical stability and excellent mechanical strength. OOYOO will concentrate on material selection, solution formulation, and high-performance membrane and module design, aimed at the separation, recovery, and reuse of CO<sub>2<\/sub>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The collaboration between Arkema and OOYOO will accelerate performance improvements and cost reduction of OOYOO\u2019s cutting-edge, self-developed separation membranes through new high performance materials developed and proposed by Arkema\u2019s:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arkema.com\/global\/en\/products\/product-finder\/product-range\/technicalpolymers\/pebax-product-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pebax<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0polyether block amide elastomers<\/a>\u00a0but also polyimide,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arkema.com\/global\/en\/products\/product-finder\/product-range\/technicalpolymers\/Kepstan-pekk-resins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PEKK<\/a>, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arkema.com\/global\/en\/products\/product-finder\/product-range\/technicalpolymers\/kynar-product-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PVDF resins<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Revolutionizing CO2\u00a0Separation for\u00a0Advanced Membrane Technology Technologies for CO2\u00a0separation and recovery\u00a0have gained enormous attention these days because of their potential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help protecting the planet.
