\u20ac18 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bio-based drop-ins\/smart drop-in platform chemicals, via cost-effective, sustainable and resource-efficient conversion of biomass &#8211; \u20ac20 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Circular-by-design fibre-based packaging with improved properties &#8211; \u20ac18 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Retrofitting of (bio)refineries industrial plants towards higher-value bio-based products &#8211; \u20ac20 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Innovation actions (IA)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sustainable macroalgae systems for innovative, added-value applications: cultivation and optimised production systems &#8211; \u20ac14 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) bio-based solutions to replace hazardous conventional chemicals for textiles production &#8211; \u20ac13.5 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scaling-up nutritional proteins from alternative sources &#8211; \u20ac14 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cost-effective and robust continuous biotech bio-based processes &#8211; \u20ac14 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SSbD bio-based polymers\/copolymers unlocking new market applications &#8211; \u20ac13.5 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research and innovation actions (RIA)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Valorisation of untapped forest biomass &#8211; \u20ac7 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bio-based and biodegradable delivery systems for fertilising products to reduce microplastics pollution &amp; promote soil health &#8211; \u20ac6 million<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Alternative biomanufacturing routes for natural and synthetic rubber &#8211; \u20ac6 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Coordination and support actions (CSA)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Develop and deploy new curricula and knowledge exchange practices relevant to bio-based systems &#8211; \u20ac1 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Check the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbe.europa.eu\/system\/files\/2024-12\/cbeju_awp2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Annual Work Programme 2025<\/a>&nbsp;for the complete topic text, conditions and requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The call for proposals will open on 4 April 2025, and the call deadline is foreseen for&nbsp;17 September 2025.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In 2025,\u00a0CBE JU will continue to work on higher participation of the primary sector, both land and sea, in the European bioeconomy.\u00a0By promoting competitive and sustainable growth, our efforts will contribute to the creation of new jobs and inclusive regional development. Our sustainability goals include scaling up circular technologies, enhancing climate resilience, and increasing resource efficiency. The CBE JU\u2019s community is committed to fostering market readiness, removing investment barriers, and de-risking innovation in the bio-based sector. &#8211; <strong>Nicol\u00f3 Giacomuzzi-Moore, CBE JU Executive Director.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Save the date for the CBE JU Info Day 2025<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbe.europa.eu\/events\/cbe-ju-info-day-2025\">CBE JU Info Day 2025<\/a>&nbsp;is planned for&nbsp;3 April 2025&nbsp;in person in Brussels, with ample face-to-face networking opportunities. The sessions will also be streamed online. Registration for in-person participation will open soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Private investments top up Horizon Europe\u2019s funding<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The CBE JU budget for calls comes from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/research-and-innovation\/funding\/funding-opportunities\/funding-programmes-and-open-calls\/horizon-europe_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Horizon Europe<\/a>, the EU\u2019s research and innovation funding programme. Each euro of public funding will be complemented by private investments. The topics for submission will be published on the EU\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/portal\/screen\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Funding &amp; Tender Opportunities Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A work programme to address strategic priorities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Annual Work Programme 2025 is based on the strategic priorities from the CBE JU\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbe.europa.eu\/strategic-research-and-innovation-agenda-sria\">Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA)<\/a>.
