This includes over 61 million pounds of post-consumer EPS packaging, reflecting a 31% recycling rate in&nbsp;North America. For its part, the EPS industry has collectively<strong>&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4273733-1&amp;h=2349887195&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.prweb.com%2Freleases%2Fexpanded-polystyrene-eps-industry-advances-sustainability-with-185m-investment-in-recycled-content-resin-technologies-301978134.html&amp;a=invested\" target=\"_blank\">invested<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;$185 million&nbsp;in recycled content resin technologies, which are processes and innovations that incorporate post-consumer recycled EPS foam into new resin formulations and reduce reliance on virgin materials. Approximately 79 million pounds of capacity are currently operational, with an additional 150 million pounds planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These efforts have resulted in growing demand for recycled content EPS, which is widely used in rigid polystyrene applications like picture frames, coat hangers, and as a concrete aggregate. Recycled EPS material finds its way into a variety of end markets, including building and construction materials, safety helmets, automotive applications, new packaging, and furniture. Notably, consumer access to EPS recycling has been expanding through initiatives like the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4273733-1&amp;h=237956176&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.recyclefoam.org%2F&amp;a=Foam+Recycling+Coalition+(FRC)\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Foam Recycling Coalition (FRC)<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;grants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between 2019 and 2023, the number of consumers benefiting from the FRC densifier grant program\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4273733-1&amp;h=2854466182&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.recyclefoam.org%2Fgrants&amp;a=grew\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>grew<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0from four million to 12.4 million. During that same period, the amount of foam polystyrene collected for recycling from FRC-supported programs nearly\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4273733-1&amp;h=3572566387&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.recyclefoam.org%2Fgrants&amp;a=doubled\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>doubled<\/strong><\/a>, rising from 841,000 to 1.6 million pounds. Likewise,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4273733-1&amp;h=1084371632&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foamcycle.com%2F&amp;a=Foam+Cycle\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Foam Cycle<\/strong><\/a>, which offers a turnkey EPS recycling system to municipalities, has gained traction in 29 cities increasing consumer access by another 11.5 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As EPS recycling infrastructure continues to develop, EPS-IA encourages consumers and businesses alike to take advantage of the more than 400 drop-off locations available, which can be found via EPS-IA&#8217;s&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/c212.net\/c\/link\/?t=0&amp;l=en&amp;o=4273733-1&amp;h=581965865&amp;u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.epsindustry.org%2Frecycling-map&amp;a=North+American+EPS+Recycling+Map\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>North American EPS Recycling Map<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>&#8220;EPS is being recycled in increasing quantities, and the growth in access and infrastructure points to more progress ahead,&#8221; added <strong>Bowers<\/strong>. &#8220;With continued innovation and investment, EPS recycling can significantly contribute to a more sustainable economy.
