{"id":15195,"date":"2011-06-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2011-06-27T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bio-based.eu\/news\/index.php?startid=20110706-03n"},"modified":"2018-01-18T14:51:44","modified_gmt":"2018-01-18T13:51:44","slug":"chopper-college-and-the-composites-innovation-centre-to-unveil-ecocycle-at-bio-international-convention-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/chopper-college-and-the-composites-innovation-centre-to-unveil-ecocycle-at-bio-international-convention-2011\/","title":{"rendered":"Chopper College and The Composites Innovation Centre to Unveil EcoCycle at BIO International Convention 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-left: 10px;\" src=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/news-images\/20110706-03\/05072011ecocycle200.jpg\" alt=\"Bild\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/>Manitoba\u2019s Composites Innovation Centre (CIC) and Minnesota\u2019s Chopper College have partnered to create a commercial-scale, eco-friendly, high performance motorcycle &#8211; powered by biofuels and enhanced with bio-composite parts developed by the CIC.<br \/>\nThe completed EcoCycle\u2122 will be showcased in the Manitoba Booth (#3727) on the trade show floor at this year\u2019s BIO International Convention (June 27 &#8211; 30, 2011 in Washington, D.C.).<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The EcoCycle\u2122 project is another example of how Manitoba is at the forefront of international innovation and expertise in the biomaterials and larger agricultural biotechnology industry. What\u2019s more, the partnership between the CIC and Chopper College only serves to reinforce how R&amp;D collaboration in our region is helping to establish the North American Midwest as a global hub for innovation.<\/p>\n<p>The EcoCycle\u2122 project also highlights Manitoba\u2019s commitment to developing a world-class biomaterials industry. Support for the project was provided through the Province\u2019s Science and Technology International Collaboration Fund (STIC) Fund &#8211; a program aimed at supporting Manitoba research and business stakeholders\u2019 participation in international R&amp;D projects.<\/p>\n<p>Innovative aspects of the EcoCycle\u2122 bike include a gas tank and fender made from hybrid glass\/bio-composite materials.
