Bioworks Corporation is pleased to announce that its next-generation plant-based synthetic fiber, PlaXTM<\/sup><\/strong>, has been adopted by Seivson, a Taiwanese designer brand that is gaining attention across Asia, for its 2025 Spring\/Summer collection. On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, five designs featuring PlaXTM<\/sup> were unveiled at the Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO runway show.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Background of PlaXTM<\/sup> Adoption<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

PlaXTM<\/sup> is a plant-based synthetic fiber made from sugarcane. It is a new material that contributes to addressing environmental issues such as resource depletion and carbon dioxide emissions by replacing petroleum-based synthetic fibers. PlaXTM<\/sup> was selected because its environmental contribution and fabric texture align with the theme of Seivson’s 2025 Spring\/Summer collection and the brand’s commitment to sustainable fashion. With this adoption by an international brand, Bioworks will accelerate its global market expansion and focus on building further partnerships. Seivson’s 2025 Spring\/Summer collection is themed “TRACES.” This series explores modern social phenomena experienced in the new era of the internet, from the perspective of a woman’s body growth. The designs reflect the inextricable contradictions and distortions between reality and falsehood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the design process, it became clear that the texture and characteristics of PlaXTM<\/sup> were a perfect match for this season’s theme, “Scars are the history of the body, and wrinkles are the traces of clothing.” Just as the traces left by a woman’s body during its growth reflect modern societal phenomena, the details and texture of PlaXTM<\/sup> faithfully embody our thoughts on growth and are expressed in the works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About Designer Tzu Chin Shen and Seivson<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Designer Tzu Chin Shen has been selected as an emerging designer by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture for two consecutive years and was named one of Asia’s top six emerging designers in 2016. After presenting runway shows at NY and Tokyo collections, she established Seivson in 2017. The brand has expanded its activities beyond Taiwan to Japan, Paris, New York, and other global fashion hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seivson is a Taiwanese fashion brand founded on the inspiration surrounding life. The brand name is derived from the French words “Nos” and “Vies,” meaning “two girls’ lives.” Seivson is characterized by a style that incorporates both balance and imbalance, translating small everyday ideas into flexible, borderless designs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PlaXTM<\/sup> is a new material that contributes to carbon neutrality by upgrading the quality and functionality of the biomass material “polylactic acid (PLA),” derived from plants such as sugarcane, with Bioworks’ proprietary plant- based additives. It is gaining global attention as a versatile material, not only as a replacement for petroleum-based synthetic fibers like polyester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
