We are grateful to work with partners like these two across the value chain to bring more sustainable products to consumers and demonstrate that impactful technologies are at commercial scale today,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/lanzatech_canadas-lululemon-unveils-new-enzymatically-activity-7183506010173571073-t_3E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">LanzaTech said<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Combining two innovative techniques, the fabric was created with captured carbon emissions and an enzyme-based recycling process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LanzaTech\u2019s carbon capture technology&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bio.news\/climate-change\/repurposing-carbon-shows-promise-as-an-important-part-of-combatting-climate-change\/\">recycles carbon waste through its carbon fermentation process<\/a>, transforming it into a range of products, such as \u201cfabrics and foam for shoes, cleaners, and detergents, as well as the packaging around some of those products, like plastic bottles,\u201d Tom Dower, Vice President of Public Policy for LanzaTech told a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bio.news\/climate-change\/lanzatech-virent-energy-transition-climate-change-solutions-biofuels-biobased-solutions\/\">BIO webinar<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This combination of bioprocessing technologies resulted in a high-performance, lightweight, quick-drying jacket, offering the same feel and quality known to lululemon customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur vision is to scale these technologies to address textile waste across our entire supply chain,\u201d said Yogendra Dandapure, Vice President of Raw Materials Innovation at lululemon. \u201cThis capsule product is models.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Biotech helps fashion become more sustainable<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), the fashion industry has been facing pressure to take new approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sustainable garment-creating is slowly making its mark, and earlier this year, fashion retailer Inditex and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basf.com\/us\/en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sustainable chemistry manufacturer BASF<\/a>&nbsp;revealed their collaboration: a new trademarked&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/showcase\/loopamid\/?trk=public_post_reshare-text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">loopamid\u00ae<\/a>, a type of polyamide (also known as nylon 6) and is made entirely from recycled textiles, as&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/bio.news\/biomanufacturing\/trash-to-treasure-basf-x-inditex-collaboration-reveals-new-100-recycled-jacket\/\">Bio.News<\/a>&nbsp;previously reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFollowing a \u2018design for recycling\u2019 approach, all parts, including fabrics, buttons, filling, hook and loop and zipper are made from loopamid,\u201d&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/basf_basf-and-inditex-make-a-breakthrough-in-textile-to-textile-activity-7155504489175613441-GbZG?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">BASF said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>New Jersey-based biotech company and Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) member&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernmeadow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Modern Meadow<\/a>&nbsp;is also making textiles more sustainable.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news-releases\/modern-meadow-announces-partnership-with-navis-tubetex-to-revolutionize-the-textile-manufacturing-process-with-sustainable-solutions-301839074.html#:~:text=Bio%2DFREED%E2%84%A2%20will%20provide%2C%20especially%20for%20blended%20textiles%2C%20a%20faster%20and%20more%20manufacturing%20sustainable%20process%20using%20an%20estimated%2095%25%20less%20water%2C%2075%25%20less%20energy%20consumption%2C%20and%2080%25%20less%20dye%20%26%20chemical%20without%20compromising%20on%20quality%20or%20performance.%22\"
