The 6th World BioEconomy Forum, held at the Embassy of Finland, concluded its annual event with a focus on the escalating significance of the bioeconomy.\u00a0The\u00a0Forum highlighted key trends and initiatives, exemplifying\u00a0the latest bioeconomy strategies in\u00a0the USA,\u00a0the EU, India, Brazil, Finland and Ireland.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the theme ‘Creating a Global Hub for the Bioeconomy,’ the event utilised a four-pillar structure to assess the circular bioeconomy’s status. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Forum attracted 40 expert speakers<\/a>\u00a0to share their thoughts on the bioeconomy arranged around\u00a0the Four-Pillar Structure<\/a>\u00a0ensuring a balanced overview of fresh developments. In the policy session we heard from\u00a0Vicente de Azevedo Araujo Filho,<\/strong>\u00a0Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brazil on how the country is raising the stakes on the bioeconomy with its intention to release a national bioeconomy strategy next year and keeping the bioeconomy in the G20 agenda. Biotechnology is also gaining growing interest and the USA is on the frontline of these developments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, the panel \u00a0\u201cBiotechology \u2013 a game changer?\u201d featured in-depth discussions that reflected the enthusiasm of community members, spanning industry, academia, and organisations, all exploring the prospects of the biotech future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key highlights<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

World BioEconomy Forum Awards<\/strong><\/a>: Recognising outstanding contributions, awards were presented to\u00a0India<\/strong>\u00a0(Bio Act)<\/a>, Fibenol’s\u00a0LIGNOVA\u2122\u00a0<\/strong>(Bioproduct),\u00a0President\u00a0Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva\u00a0<\/strong>(Bio Person)\u00a0and\u00a0Solar Foods<\/strong>\u00a0(Start-up).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Declaration 2023<\/strong><\/a>: Addressed dynamic global bioeconomy growth in terms of a solution source for humankind and the ever-increasing importance of international collaboration and in terms of its growing economic value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Results of the global hub for the bioeconomy<\/strong> were presented displaying expectations of the bioeconomy society. A clear majority sees that a bioeconomy hub would be best to be arranged around collaboration and partnership. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The<\/strong>\u00a0World BioEconomy Association<\/strong>\u00a0was presented. It is a very first global non-profit association focusing on advancing bioeconomy holistically covering various bioeconomy visions –\u00a0Bioresource, Biotechnology, and Bioecology.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jukka Kantola, the Founder of the World Bioeconomy Forum<\/strong>, expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the Forum, stating, “This marked our inaugural event bringing the Forum to the USA. It aligned seamlessly with our goal for this year, as we recognised the dynamic developments within this space. Importantly, it resonated with our overarching annual theme, ‘creating a global hub.’ The engaging discussions across various panels underscored our collective ability to yield substantive outcomes from the conference.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
