It represents an improvement of around 70% relative to traditional polyamide resins using fossil-based raw materials and conventional energy sources.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Derived entirely from renewable castor seeds,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/hpp.arkema.com\/en\/product-families\/rilsan-polyamide-11-resins\/\">Rilsan<sup>\u00ae<\/sup>\u00a0polyamide 11<\/a>\u00a0is 100% segregated bio-based. Furthermore, the amino 11 monomer and the downstream polymers are produced using a significant proportion of low carbon and renewable energy \u2013 both in terms of electricity and combustible fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arkema thus recently announced a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.arkema.com\/global\/en\/media\/newslist\/news\/global\/csr\/2023\/20230119-major-biomethane-supply-agreement-engie\/\">biomethane supply agreement with ENGIE<\/a>&nbsp;in France, and carried out several energy efficiency improvements in its polyamide 11 chain production sites over the last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThis is an important step for our customers and the markets we serve,\u201d\u00a0said <strong>Erwoan Pezron, Senior Vice President, Arkema<\/strong>\u2019s High Performance Polymers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe lower carbon footprint we announce today applies to our entire global production, not just a particular set of grades or a certain location. This allows our customers to deliver on their commitment to decarbonize and to develop more sustainable products at scale. Furthermore, we have a strong action plan in place to further decarbonize this range, with a 2030 target to reduce the carbon footprint by a further 50%.
