Olaf Porc has been a member of nova-Institute\u2019s policy and economy department since 2020. His work primarily focuses on the field of techno-economic evaluation and the European bioeconomy, with a particular focus on renewable feedstocks and material flows, especially evaluating the role of carbon in the economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He currently contributes his expertise in EU funded projects (e.g. Star4BBS<\/a>), as well as in several national project (e.g. DuroBast<\/a>, BioCapa<\/a>, Greenlight<\/a>), where he examines the regional biomass potential in the LANUV Rheinisches Revier Biomasse Studie<\/a>, the LEG Th\u00fcringen Biomasse Potenzial Studie<\/a>, and Port of Antwerp Biomass Potential Study. Besides this, he regularly supports other nova departments with research, data acquisition and analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Olaf is also the author of various publications which have been published either by nova or the Renewable Carbon Initiative (RCI) (e.g. \u201cRCI Carbon Flows Report: Compilation of supply and demand of fossil and renewable carbon on a global and European level<\/a>\u201d, \u201cEuropean Bioeconomy in Figures 2008\u20132019<\/a>\u201d, and \u201cThe Use of Food and Feed Crops for Bio-based Materials and the Related Effects on Food Security<\/a>\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Background and Expertise<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After completing his bachelor\u2019s degree in Agricultural Sciences at the University of Bonn (Germany), he acquired basic knowledge in the field of agriculture. Olaf continued with the subsequent master\u2019s course in Crop Science. In his master\u2019s thesis, he examined the nematode infestation of heat-stressed tomato plants as part of phytomedicine. Aside from nova, Olaf established himself as a well-known DJ, and contributes to the national cultural \u201cmovement\u201d by entertaining his dance-audience with joyful tunes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
