At the same time, this has opened a window in which to speed up the transformation necessary for achieving the climate targets for industry in 2030 and 2045 and to stay competitive in the global race for climate-neutral products and technologies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"358\" height=\"506\" src=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2023\/07\/image-21.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-129229\" srcset=\"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2023\/07\/image-21.png 358w, https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2023\/07\/image-21-212x300.png 212w, https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2023\/07\/image-21-106x150.png 106w, https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/media\/2023\/07\/image-21-191x270.png 191w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 358px) 100vw, 358px\" \/><figcaption><strong>\u00a9<\/strong> Agora Energiewenden<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>So the chemical industry stands at a crossroads: It needs to develop a common pathway that takes into account the climate targets, limited domestic re\u00adsources and the resilience of value chains, while maintainng the industry\u2019s economic strength. At the same time, Germany and the EU must create an environment that fosters investment in the techno\u00adlogies of the future in order to maintain the innovative energy that is crucial for the economic strength of the sector and for delivering the key materials for \u00ada climate-neutral society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This project contributes to developing such a transition pathway for a chemical industry that uses \u00admaterials and resources efficiently, a pathway based on three key complementary strategies: direct electrifi\u00adcation and flexibility, a circular economy and renew\u00adable feedstocks.
