Citroniq Chemicals LLC (\u201cCitroniq\u201d), a world-scale producer of carbon-negative materials, and\u00a0Mitsui Plastics, Inc (\u201cMPI\u201d), a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. (Tokyo, Japan), one of the most diversified and comprehensive trading, investment, and service enterprises in the world, are pleased to announce the execution of a letter of intent for a large-scale supply agreement for sustainable polypropylene, marking the beginning of a long-term alliance between the two companies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Citroniq and MPI\u2019s alliance is timely as consumers are demanding sustainable, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible products. MPI\u00a0has\u00a0recognized\u00a0Citroniq\u2019s polypropylene as a viable solution to meeting their growing demand for sustainable materials. Made from a sustainable biogenic feedstock using renewable energy, Citroniq\u2019s green carbon-negative polypropylene permanently sequesters CO2<\/sub> in a useful plastic pellet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cCitroniq\u00a0is\u00a0dedicated\u00a0to\u00a0being\u00a0a\u00a0\u2018pure\u00a0play\u2019\u00a0sustainable\u00a0materials\u00a0company.\u00a0With\u00a0our\u00a0annual\u00a0capacity of\u00a0over\u00a0800\u00a0million pounds of green polypropylene at our\u00a0Kansas\u00a0plant, our cost position will be highly competitive, leveraging existing feedstocks and logistically advantaged infrastructure,\u201d said Citroniq\u2019s co-founder\u00a0Kelly Knopp<\/strong>.<\/p>

\u201cTogether,\u00a0MPI\u00a0and\u00a0Citroniq will be able to provide customers with global-scale supplies of \u2018drop-in\u2019 sustainable resins much faster than the alternatives, resulting in meaningful reductions in their carbon footprint, on schedule with their carbon reduction targets,\u201d said Citroniq\u2019s co-founder\u00a0Mel Badheka<\/strong>.<\/p>

\u201cMitsui & Co. has set a goal to become carbon neutral by 2050.\u00a0MPI, as part of the Mitsui & Co. Group, is investigating various options to accomplish this target, such as adding Green Polypropylene to our portfolio through a partnership with Citroniq,\u201d said Mitsui Plastics Inc.
