{"id":119792,"date":"2022-12-12T07:26:00","date_gmt":"2022-12-12T06:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/?p=119792"},"modified":"2022-12-07T11:15:12","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T10:15:12","slug":"ipcc-report-the-role-of-carbon-capture-and-utilisation-ccu-to-mitigate-climate-change-videos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/renewable-carbon.eu\/news\/ipcc-report-the-role-of-carbon-capture-and-utilisation-ccu-to-mitigate-climate-change-videos\/","title":{"rendered":"IPCC report: The role of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) to mitigate climate change \u2014 Videos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n\n\n<p>For the first time in 30 years, CCU is discussed in the IPCC&nbsp;report as a solution to decrease net CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;emissions, as well as as a potential technology to move away from fossil carbon by using CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;as an alternative feedstock for the production of renewable chemicals and fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The benefits of CCU<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>CCU technologies are drop-in solutions and have the potential to utilise up to 8 Gt of CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;per year by 2050.<\/li><li>CCU allows to reduce or avoid CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;emissions while maintaining essential services historically based on fossil resources.<\/li><li>CCU can provide CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;removal solutions when atmospheric or biogenic CO<sub>2<\/sub>&nbsp;is durably stored in products.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>CCU applications have different impacts on climate change, and they are highly dependent on the context.
