In line with nova’s RCI, this new network completes the biosphere – atmosphere – technosphere circuit in the IBB’s activities and complements its sub-networks on the use of biomass and CO2.

The IBB’s different fields of activity enable the efficient and targeted cross-linking of companies and research institutes/academics. Like all of the company’s activities, ‘plastics recycling’ focusses on a specific topic that connects its members and creates new synergies, which in turn have given rise to various success stories in the past. The IBB thus expertly catalyzes innovation and technology transfer via publicly and privately funded R&D projects as well by as boosting its partners’ public relations activities.

The newly established network aims to cover the entire plastics recycling value chain. Its members shall include, among others, suppliers and processors of ‘old plastics’ or first-rate processed recyclates, (equipment) manufacturers, end users and many more. Confirmed and interested future members include experts on additives allowing upcycling and incorporation of valuable properties into the recycled materials. As such, the network is designed to cover mechanical as well as (bio)chemical aspects of recycling. <s></s>

As network manager, the IBB identifies and connects partners with complementary expertise and compiles appropriate skillsets for collaborative projects. Specific requests focusing on product development can be addressed by existing network members or newly acquired partners, both supported and/or mediated by the IBB. In close collaboration between the IBB team and network partners, existing and newly developed project ideas can be turned into proposals and submitted to funding bodies, if desired. For the aforementioned management activities, the IBB obtains a biannual fee.

Being planned as a self-sustained rather than a publicly funded network, common limitations with respect to membership do not apply and the network also looks forward to welcoming international and big industrial partners.

You are cordially invited to attend the next (German-language) plastics recycling network meeting, which will take place on the 22nd of November 2022 in Munich.
