Sulzer Chemtech will provide technology to recover high purity circular aromatics from cracked oil products derived from Encina\u2019s mixed-plastics-to-aromatics catalytic conversion platform. Encina\u2019s 1000 tons per day waste plastics recycling facility will be located in Northeast United States, and is expected to be operational in 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Encina has developed a catalytic platform wherein the cracked products selectively contain high levels of circular aromatics as well as other valuable by-products. Sulzer Chemtech will provide its hydrotreating and aromatics extraction technology (SuRe\u2122 BTX) to recover high purity circular benzene and toluene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sulzer Chemtech\u2019s flagship aromatic extraction technology (GT-BTX\u00ae) has been deployed worldwide for aromatics recovery from reformate and naphtha cracked pyrolysis with more than 70 licenses sold. This is the first commercial application of this technology where waste plastics is used as feedstock within a circular chemical solution to help resolve a global environmental issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>Carlo Badiola<\/strong>, Senior VP of Engineering and Technology at Encina, comments: \u201cWe selected Sulzer Chemtech and its SuRe\u2122 BTX technology due to the company\u2019s leading expertise in aromatic extraction.
